Digestive Issues

The science of studying problems associated with digestion has made incredible progress in recent decades.  As we learn more about this process, the true complexity and capability of our innards becomes apparent.  Unfortunately, the causes and cures for our many of the most common digestion issues remain a mystery.  Fortunately, progress is being made slowly but surely.  Irritable bowel syndrome, crohn's disease, candida, and leaky gut syndrome are some of  the most digestive problems.  These conditions affect a large percentage of the population, which means that drug companies have a vested interest in researching and producing medicines for these diseases.

Crohn's Disease Basics E-mail
Crohn’s Disease, or inflammatory bowel disease, is a chronic, progressive, relapsing disease, characterized by inflamed intestines, that usually strikes between the ages of 15 and 30. Because it resembles many other gastrointestinal problems, Crohn’s disease is very hard to diagnose and treat.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome E-mail
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), also known as spastic colon, irritable colon, nervous indigestion, spastic colitis, intestinal neurosis, or laxative colitis, is a condition characterized by diarrhea, constipation, or both.  IBS is a functional disorder, and it is not associated with an increased risk of cancer. Although not life threatening, IBS can be very debilitating. Over 17% of the American population suffers from the syndrome, and it is estimated that over 50 million prescriptions are written annually to deal with its associated problems.
